Mindfulness in the Garden

A summer program for girls (ages 10-13)

We are excited to offer a new program for girls ages 10-13. Led by Sweet Roots Gardens founder, Sara Coblyn, this program will offer girls and opportunity to work together outside in our educational gardens. Sara combines her various trainings in to this diverse program; she is a certified yoga instructor, garden educator and has recently been trained in the Mindful Schools curriculum. Participants will have the chance to learn about all aspects of veggie, herb and flower gardening as well as learn some healthy self care tools. Additional activities will include, yoga, mindfulness exercises, herbal product making, crafts and other activities chosen by the girls themselves.

Dates: We meet in the gardens on Saturday mornings for 2.5 hours in July and August from 10am-12:30pm. The program will meet on the following dates: July 15, July 29, August 12 & August 19.

A typical morning might look like this:

10:00 am Arrive and check in

10:15 Yoga and Mindfulness

11:00 Projects; gardening, herbal product making, crafts

12:15 Closing meeting

12:30 Leave

Cost: $100 for complete session. 

What to Bring/Wear: Clothes you are ok with getting dirty. Close toed shoes. Yoga mat if you have one. Snack and water. Towel for hot days when we’ll cool off with water. Please note, we do not provide lunch but there will be snacking and snack making from the garden.

Please note, we need a minimum of 5 participants in order to run this program.
